Ohia Restoration Project falls under Artkids Natural Heritage Restoration (NHR) projects.

The request for ArtKids Foundation Holland to intervene and help restore the now-dilapidated Ohia Stream was made by Owerre-Nkworji/UmuEke-born Igbo microcomputer scientist and project developer, Engr. Ezekwesiri Enyinnaya Obioha (ICT) who is currently the Managing Director (MD) of ArtKids Africa.

Recognising that Natural and Cultural heritages are under the fatherly care of Owerre-Nkworji’s traditional ruler, ArtKids Foundation Holland reached out to the king of Owerre-Nkworji; HRH. Eze Boniface Unogu (Ishigbo I) of Owerre-Nkworji and confirmed the importance of Ohia stream to the people of Owerre-Nkworji and the need to restore the Stream back to her healing, recreational and water-supply values. Thus, Ohia Stream Restoration was declared a project by ArtKids Foundation Holland in support of HRH. Eze Boniface Unogu (Ishigbo I) of Owerre-Nkworji.

To further confirm the level of damages Nne’Mmiri Ohia has suffered over the years, ArtKids foundation deployed Mr. Ezri Harmusial (ArtKids Director of International businesses) to visit Eze Boniface Unogu and Owerre-Nkworji in other to ascertain the present condition of Ohia Stream in Owerre-Nkworji and what will be needed to effectively restore Nne’Mmiri Ohia.

On the third (3rd) of April 2024, the inspection of Ohia stream took place under the good direction/explanation by members of Eze’s Cabinet. The inspection was successful with the confirmation that Ohia Stream needs full and we’ll planned restoration.

The 13th of April 2024 was an emotional day with the visit of HRH. Eze Boniface Unogu (Ishigbo I) to Ohia Owerre-Nkworji where he, not only blessed the intended project, but also authorised her restoration.

The next phase is the feasibility study and reporting as well as the implementation plan of Ohia Owerre-Nkworji Restoration Project 2024.

The good people of Owerre-Nkworji are hereby requested to ask whatever questions they might have regarding the proposed Ohia Restoration Project.
